Announcing "Lost in Oblivion"!

Thanks to everyone who has downloaded "Violent Delights: Weapons & Armour for Death in Space" (Or VD for short)! This was the first piece of content I ever published for any TTRPG and I'm glad so many people downloaded it, and am especially thankful for those that decided to give a little bit of money as well.

Ever since the release of VD, I've been slowly working on and off at another Death in Space project. This time, the goal was to once again expand the arsenal but also expand other areas of DiS - specifically the roster of enemies and the player character options. Thus, Lost in Oblivion was born. A supplement shaping up to be close to 30 pages long and featuring new character creation options, new enemies, and a plethora of arms and equipment to hand out as loot!

Currently it's set to split into three sections to represent these three facets - with the majority of the supplements page count dedicated to the weapons and equipment. Included in this are retooled items from VD, updated with new rules, names, and now art! The art has been what's been taking the most time - I'm far from an artist and the requirements of drawing up well over a dozen weapons and tools has been tough - but I've made good progress this past month.

Currently there is no planned release date for Lost in Oblivion. To be transparent, I work for a full time job and run 2 ongoing tabletop campaigns - meaning this has been something I've been chipping away at in the background. It should be hopefully finished in the next month or two, so tentatively I'm hoping for an end of august release date!

In the meantime, I'll be updating the DevLog with what's been created - specifically art pieces or snippets of rules. And more importantly for today, I'll be showing off some of the art!

First, we have the cover page. Similar to DiS's core rules, LiO's sections are all colour coded. It's character creation is in red, it's weapons in purple, and it's enemies in yellow. I wanted the cover to kind of pull towards the title and it's meaning, while being emblematic of the beautiful cover art of the base game.

Second, we have a new weapon to show off! The SecMod HND-GN. This creepy little raid rifle uses the hand of an old security unit, whose inbuilt weapon systems can still be made to run with a bit of extra juice. This isn't the only SecMod item at the moment, and I'll be sure to share what else has been pulled from these aged security bots!

Second is a simple one, an improvised weapon found in VD - now named a "Small Scrap Weapon". It's rules have changed as well, and it will share its page with "Large Scrap Weapons"! These seek to do what the original VD versions did - offer up lower damage and less consistent weapons for players in a jam or lower tier enemies.

Finally, another piece of art for a VD weapon. The H-Tek Neon-Nade. H-Tek as a brand has a suite of items - all handheld throwables - for you to use. The Neon-Nade has had some light wording tweaks to better fit the core rules and push for a more rules light experience, but has otherwise remained the same.

Thanks again everyone, and that's all for now! I'll be back soon enough with more art and information on Lost in Oblivion. If anyone has any questions feel free to comment!

Love,

Benjamin Ziegler

Nice! Death in Space deserves more dedicated content. I'm looking forward to when this supplement comes out.

I agree! The core system is tight, but I can see why creating more stuff is a bit difficult - with how well designed and rules light the core systems are it's a careful balancing act of making interesting additions without over complicating whats there. I'm glad you're interested!
